Screenprinting adds another level of storytelling to a product, and it’s something we knew we wanted to do at the Mend workshop from the beginning. The challenges in front of us were daunting though — inconsistent power, and a lack of access to the large machines traditionally associated with this art form.

That’s where Lumi Co. came in.

Mend’s screen-printed canvas totes are created with Lumi Co.’s innovative printing system. It uses no water, little electricity and only the sun to develop the images on the bags.

This process, unique to Mend and its workspace in Uganda, allows the program to be eco-friendly and revolutionary.
